Created in 1972 Blythe was only on the shop shelves for a year before dissapearing until 1997.Tv producer Gina Garan bought her back to life by taking hundreds of photos of Blythe and in 2002 the book 'This Is Blythe' was published.Later that year the rights to make Blythe dolls was given to Takara toy company in Japan and she has gone from strength to strength.There is now a vibrant Blythe subculture and she has become very collectable.
